The digital environment introduces a new twist on artists collaborating with other artists. For instance, exciting and creative works are being created online in shared environments.

Networking makes it possible for artists working side by side or a continent apart to paint on the same canvas.

Another example is digital collages made with a variety of symbols and motifs created by a several artists. These motifs can be embedded in a drawing or painting. Motifs can be found and used from various places on the Internet and on user networks.

The digital canvas adds new meaning to “found art”.

I created an example above of how “absentee partners” contribute to a painting using patterns and digital “brushes” built by other artists.
